The contract

In the principal's office, Principal Han and Ms. Jang take Eli through the contract clause by clause: party A the school and party B the teacher, the term a year from the first of September, in case the contract is renewed, in case of agreement a year at a time, in case of a Saturday event a weekday off, in case of illness a doctor's note and paid leave, in case the twenty-fifth is a holiday the day before, then the signatures on each page.

THE STORY

The principal's office at the high school in Mapo on an August morning, the contract on the desk in two copies; Principal Han and Eli speak formally, Ms. Jang politely, and Eli respectfully to both.
