🇪🇸 Spanish · Fluency Level 3

PART 1 · LESSON 10 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES

Said and Done

It's Andalusia Day, and in Manolo's bar the three who passed celebrate at last, a month later than Alvaro said. Rosario and Pepa come up from Cadiz, Manolo opens his good sherry, and there are three speeches. Give a short speech and a toast - I'll be brief, my speech is one sentence, I drink to the city that adopted me, I wouldn't have got this far without you all, this pass belongs to everyone - and look back over the whole winter, the first part of this level.

THE STORY

It's Thursday, February 28th, 2030, Andalusia Day, a holiday in the south of Spain, with green and white flags on the balconies of Pureza Street. Two in the afternoon, in Manolo's bar. In November, Alvaro said that the three of them would celebrate when they passed, and it has taken two weeks to find a day when all three are off. Rosario and Pepa have come up from Cadiz on the morning train, Encarna has come down in her lift, and Manolo brings out his good sherry, on the house. Then come the speeches. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
