PART 1 · LESSON 8 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Do What You Like
On Saturday afternoon, Sarah, Julian and Nerea paint the third-floor bathroom ceiling at last, the one their leak stained in July, and Pablo turns up in his overalls. In the evening, Nerea's mother phones from Bilbao, and says the opposite of everything she means. Read between the lines - do whatever you like, don't worry about us, your room's just as you left it - say what someone really means, say you miss something, and say you haven't decided yet.

THE STORY
It's Saturday, February 23rd, 2030, four in the afternoon, in the third-floor flat of Encarna's building in Triana. In July, a leak from Sarah and Julian's shower stained its bathroom ceiling, and the stain is still there. The owners are away for the weekend, so the neighbour from the first floor opens the door with their keys, and Sarah, Julian and Nerea get to work. Pablo turns up to help. At nine in the evening, in the top-floor kitchen, Nerea's mother phones from Bilbao. On March 5th, Nerea chooses her post, in Seville or at home. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
