PART 2 · LESSON 16 OF 30 · 30 MINUTES
Midnight on the Pier
The pier at midnight after the party, the guests gone and the river quiet, the couple on the edge with their feet over the water: I'm so tired; me too, and happy too; same here, the river's so quiet; Tee cried too, did you see? I saw, your father too; tomorrow we look for a flat; tomorrow we sleep, the day after we look; fine, as always, Jack wins: the three ways to say too and the same.

THE STORY
The family's pier at Bang Rak at midnight on the wedding day, the lanterns out, the three boats tied up and the river quiet: Jack and Nam speak as friends, no particle; she says the woman's I; Jack now says father for Uncle Chai, as a son-in-law does.
