PART 1 · LESSON 3 OF 30 · 30 MINUTES
The First Bath
The flat in Khlong San, a basin of warm water on the kitchen table and Grandma in charge: warm water, lift her up, slowly; like this; lower her in, feet first, one hand under the head; look, she's not crying; she likes it, wash from the head down; I'm afraid I'll drop her; hold her like a bowl of hot soup, lift her out, into the cloth; five minutes and I'm sweating more than the baby: the little direction words after a verb.
